San Francisco hosted the IxDA Interaction15 conference and the organizers asked the leaders of the local chapter plan an event.
We organized an Open Studio tour that encouraged attendees to explore San Francisco, and showcase the all amazing design that’s fueling the technology boom in SF, literally steps from the conference center.
Our aim was to allow attendees to find studios that matched their interests and make it easy to find their way without too much complicated navigating.
We put the word out to our network of design-focused agencies, studios, and companies. To keep track of the studios and their locations, I created a google map. We made this available to conference-goers, however, we knew a digital map might be roadblock for overseas visitors.
So, I designed a two-sided printed map was handed to conference-goers on the day of the event.
The map was a useful tool, helped promote the tour and served as a conference souvenir. (Side 2)
In the end, we had 15 studios on the tour and over 2000 RSVPs.
Each studio had an open house with food, drinks and schwag. For many, it was the highlight of the conference!
